The challenge

The primary objective was crafting an audio identity centered on meditative harmony that feels distinct within the crowded landscape of wellness platforms. Just like physical products, digital applications require an audio identity that provides instant recognition, building a deeper emotional connection with users.

Insights

During the design phase, finding the right balance between ancient spiritual traditions and futuristic digital design was critical. We aimed to step away from traditional oriental spa acoustics, leaning into modern, innovative soundscapes while honoring the human-centered philosophy at the core of their meditations.

The solution

The resulting audio identity comprises a waft, gentle audio logo along with custom app sound effects designed to elevate real-time interactions across the platform.

Audio logo & design pillars

The audio logo utilizes a descending melody built from organic and synthetic layers. Grounded in Gestalt psychology principles, each acoustic layer embodies one of the brand’s four core pillars:

Body

Body symbolizes becoming embodied and dropping into the body. Its associated element is Earth. We hear a descending melody representing the grounding of the body and soul, becoming one with nature.

Heart

Heart symbolizes being open-hearted. Its associated element is Fire. This layer represents the act of acknowledging past and present thoughts, allowing yourself to set them aside and grow from a place of healing.

Mind

Mind symbolizes stepping out onto the river of thoughts while meditating, observing thoughts as they come and go. Its associated element is Water, characterized by free-flowing, washed-out tones.

Space

Space symbolizes the ultimate nature of reality where everything eventually dissolves into space. Its associated element is Aether, expressed through deep sub-bass frequencies and ascending mindful tones.

The logo concludes with a Tibetan-inspired bell chime, mixed in spatial audio (3D) to wrap around the listener.

UX/UI sound design

The suite of UI sounds derives directly from the master audio logo. Signaling milestones, meditation start/end points, notifications, and alerts, these sounds feature soft attack envelopes designed to remain gentle and non-disruptive during sessions.
